From the recording You left me 'cos I wouldn't change my ways - Up-tempo remix
This re-release of ‘You left me ‘cos I wouldn’t change my ways’ puts a fresh spin on the original, with a sped-up tempo that hits harder, driven by punchy drums and a fantastic live band feel. A driving riff and tasty guitar licks power the lyrics, which tell of consequences catching up with you and having no-one else to blame. The track, which features some of Australia’s best musicians, including Peter Northcote and Dario Bortolin, is a remix of the original from Cassady’s debut EP ‘Don’t ask me’, which also features a cover of the Rolling Stone’s track ‘No Expectations’ which has received public and critical acclaim.
Lyrics
I keep hoping, hoping that someday
Thinking and hoping that something’s gonna change
That you’ll come back and be with me again
That you’ll give me just one more second chance
I keep hoping that things will go our way
Cos with every rising sun, there is a new day
But unless you change yourself, things will stay the same
It’s pointless, choosing some else to blame
You left me ‘cos I wouldn’t change my ways
But there was no-one there to take your place
You left me in a funny kind of state, a real bad place, a real bad way.
Finally I get the courage, to go about my way
Suddenly you need me, well at least that’s what you say
So you come back, but the moment never stays
One pushes and then one pulls themselves away
You left me ‘cos I wouldn’t change my ways
But there was no-one there to take your place
You left me in a funny kind of state, a real bad place, a real bad way
You left me ‘cos I wouldn’t change my ways
But there was no-one there to take your place
You left me in a funny kind of state, a real bad place, a real bad way
We ain’t got no money, and I’m the one to blame
It’s the same excuses, again and again
You left me in a funny kind of state, a real bad place, a real bad way
